DANVILLE – Newton R. Poynts, 72, of Indianapolis, a Montgomery County native who worked as a mechanic all his life, died Thursday morning in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. Mr. Poynts had worked at Danville several years. He was a member of Westview Christian Church here and the Modern Woodmen at New Market. He was born July 23, 1901, a son of William and Elizabeth Reath Poynts. He was married to Edna Stanley on March 1, 1924. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Roy Burrows of Indianapolis; two sons, Robert of Danville and William of Ladoga; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a brother, John of Crawfordsville. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Weaver Funeral Home here with Rev. William O. Redefer officiating. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery near New Market. – jlr
